Pineda de Mar is located in the middle of the "Costa del Maresme", in between the coastal mountain range and the sea. 55 km north of Barcelona and 45 km south of Girona. It is easily reached by the N-II road, C-32 Motorway and the railway. Pineda has a long, wide sandy beach of outstanding quality. A pleasant town with lots of green squares (52), groves, water fountains, flowerbeds and lawns. It is also close to the Montnegre Natural Park.
Pineda de Mar is home to the "Fundació Tharrats" (Tharrats Foundation) of Graphic Arts, housed in a classical building - "Can Comas", designed by Javier Mariscal. The foundation is home to a permanent collection of graphic arts from the artist Joan Josep Tharrats as well as works by Miró, Tàpies, Brossa, Guinovart, Clavé, Ponç, Fontserè or Subirachs. Concerts, exhibitions and courses take place here year round.
The town has a wide, long sandy beach of outstanding quality, approximately 3.000 metres long and with an average width of around 40 metres. The beach of Pineda de Mar to have been awarded in recent years the Blue Flag quality certificate. During the summer season, in two sites along the beach, “l'Agència Catalana de l'Aigua” (Catalan Water Agency) displays information about the quality of sand and water that is weekly updated.
You can see in the town a spread of history from archaeological remains of the Roman and Iberian era to the modern sport zone, and "Can Comas".
