Originally the only access gate to the walled city of Calpe was"El Portalet", but the gate was demolished in 1923; a a new building was constructed in 1926 which became the Town Hall.
Here we now find the Museum of Archeology. It was opened in 1996, with two exhibition floors with displays from the 3rd century up to the present time. Alongside the museum you find ruins of the Romans and the ruins of the Bano de la Reina (an old fish factory). Objects and ceramics, found during the various archaeological excavations, are on display.
