Sagunto, Valencia, Spain

25 km from Valencia, the remains of the castle stand on the ridge above Sagunt, and here was fought a battle between Saguntum and Hannibal. The fortress was adapted later by Romans, Goths, Moors and Christians. It was declared a national monument in 1931.

13 kilometres of coastline in the district provide many bathing opportunities. The main beaches have been annually awarded Blue Flags from the European Union - Malvarrosa, Corinto, Almardá and the Puerto Sagunt beach
